Company Driver Income Potential
Average Revenue per Mile
Average Revenue per Week
Average Revenue per Month
Average Revenue per Year
Typical weekly miles are between 2,200 - 3,200 at MadCo, depending on driver preferences, market conditions, and other factors. National salary average is based on a 3,000-mile week in US trucking companies according to Zip Recruiter. The calculation above is an estimate, does not guarantees your exact income and is pre-tax income.
What Makes MadCo So Different?
For all our company drivers, we are able to offer a pay scale ranging from 20% to 28% of the trucks total gross income given that drivers, like yourself, are the ones actually working every day. Most trucking companies pay per mile, but we are strongly against this pay structure given that it's hard to adjust to the freight market quickly, drivers are performing the actual physical work, and you make more money with less work!
The pay scale is simple, easy to understand, and structured to incentivize you in two different ways. First, the pay percentage is lowered based on the number of negative violations on your driving record to encourage safe driving practices. Second, the percentage of pay is increased based on the amount of gross income the truck earns per week consistently and the type of loads you are hauling. In our flatbed division, drivers earn the most when they maximize their HOS and the total days they run the road, so it pays to go the extra mile.
We know many are visual, so here is the quick income breakdown...
20% = New CDL Driver
20% = 3 Driving Violations
22% = 2 Driving Violations
24% = 1 Driving Violation
26% = 0 Driving Violations
28% = $7500+ weekly truck income
There is one exception to the rule if you have 1-3 driving violations or hold a new CDL. If the truck you are operating brings in gross revenue over $7500 per week, then you can slide up one pay tier based on where you land currently. For example, you have two driving violations and would typically earn 22% commission on the truck’s gross income, but you and the dispatcher work well together in order to generate a weekly gross income over $7500.00. In this particular case, your income would bump up a paid tier from 22% to 24%. In reality, your company driver income would increase from $1,650.00 per week to $1,800.00 per week giving you an extra $600 per month.
When starting with MadCo, it’s important to have the correct expectations for your first 90 days, typical dispatch schedule, and the type of runs you will make. Currently, we are experiencing a trucking recession in 2019 and potential downturn in the economy, trucking companies are filing for bankruptcy, and manufacturing is at an all-time low. With that said, we are prepared for the slowdown, willing to fight for our drivers, and ensure that we will do whatever it takes to guarantee your weekly earnings.
Given the current freight market, typical dispatch schedules are two long weeks, one to two weekends over the road followed by two regional weeks with weekend home time. We are not aggressive on contract rates with a potential market collapse and will haul any freight, including, but not limited to building materials, steel, machinery, lumber, general freight, hay and any other product we see an opportunity for everyone. We will fight for work-life balance, but at the same time need to prepare to run hard with a slow market and trucking variables.
In addition to our pay scale, we also offer four bonus programs to all our drivers regardless of your experience or driving record. The first program is our “loyalty bonus” which accounts for periodic gift cards, cash advances, or trip features when doing a 34-hour reset over the road. The second program is our “safety bonus” which accounts for $750.00 additional income every quarter (three months) that you successfully drive without violations, damages, or at-fault accidents in the truck. The third program is our “extra mile bonus” which accounts for an additional 2% to your weekly pay when the truck is making $7,500.00+ gross income per week. This incentivizes the driver and dispatcher to work together, but also work smarter. The fourth and last program is our “holiday bonus” which accounts for $1,500.00 and is distributed in December to ensure you have Christmas money for your family.
In summary, our ideal company driver would be capable of earning $62,400 to $100,000+ in a calendar year, but six figures with the correct miles, truck income, and dispatch schedule. To outline, the ideal driver is going to be 28 years or older, showcases 5 or more years of experience, has no violations on their record and drives on average #3000 miles per week safely.
Last, we are very proud to offer the following guardrails to grant you income certainty in an industry that is going to be unpredictable thanks to weather, mechanics, and manufacturing. First, all drivers are guaranteed $1,000 minimum pay every week including vacation. Second, drivers that decide to work holidays will be given a $100.00 bonus on the following dates; Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, New Year’s Day, Labor Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day.
Finally, it is important to mention the penalties for getting a traffic violation added to your driving record while being employed for MADCO TRANSPORTATION, INC. The first and second violations added to a record is going to result in a $250.00 fine each time. However, on the third offense within a 36-month timeframe, a driver will be terminated immediately. This should not be an issue since we are able to offer legal support to our drivers, but this must be enforced given the cost to insure a risky driver is extremely expensive!
As a Bonus, You'll Also Get:
- Safety Bonus = no accidents, no tickets, no violations
- Extra mile bonus = working hard, driving longer days
- Loyalty Bonus = Time with the company
- Holiday Bonus = Christmas money
